Driveway Guards
If you have children that like to play in the
driveway, then a driveway guard will keep them from rambling out into the
street. This guard provides a protection similar to a gate that stretches
across the width of the driveway. It consists of a retractable net and
pole so that you can take it down and put it up very easily. The net is
about 3 feet high and it stores quite easily on a shelf in the garage.
These guards come in 16 and 18 foot lengths, which will easily stretch
across any driveway. Before you buy one, though, you do need to measure
the width of the driveway to ensure you get the proper size. It is made of
orange netting, which makes it highly visible, even after dark. This way,
you won't have to worry about vehicles not seeing and driving through. It
is easy to install on both sides of the driveway.
If you buy the guard to keep the kids toys off the street, you have to
look at the size of the toys. Small balls, such as tennis balls, will
still get through because the openings in the netting are bigger than the
size of the balls. Some people who have purchased this net say that the
spring mechanism should be stronger to keep the net taut. You do need to
have someone help you set it up if you want to keep the netting from
bunching together.
It does work wonders at keeping kids, especially toddlers, from strolling
into the street. You don't have to worry so much when they are outdoors
when you have this guard in place. However, it is not of much use if you
have open spaces on either side of it. You do need to have a wall on
either side of the driveway to attach it to for it to keep the children
safe.
